Blogzerpts Opinions from bufPosté le 18/03/2010 à 10:25 - Laisser un commentaireExcerpts from reader commentary on News staffers' ****** blog postings last week. Online comments come from registered users, but - - unlike reviewed and verified Everybody's Column letters -- can be posted under pen names. Sully on Sports: Senior sports columnist Jerry Sullivan's blog on why his collective sportswriter colleagues across the state failed to consider Syracuse in Fake Guess Watches the AP men's college basketball rankings drew a response from SUHOOPS: Great read . . . For those of you that think Syracuse had a "cupcake" schedule you don't follow college basketball and clearly didn't read this article. They have the 5th and I repeat 5th toughest schedule in the country. Yet, they are still 20-1. Pretty damn solid if you ask me. Don Bright added: . . . Anyone who has ever played the **** would see that Syracuse would wipe the floor with either Kansas or Kentucky who rely on one big man for their rebounding while Syracuse has TWO 260-pound 6'9s and two 6'7 pogo stickers clearing the glass on O and D . . . Georgetown has one of the best centers in the country and one of his shots was blocked by Johnson's ELBOW as it was going up . . . Give us a BREAK! Texas was slaughtered by UCONN which is somewhere in the middle of the Big East and wasn't even in the top 20 . . . I guess the basketball writers are just football writers like those at Sports Illustrated who ranked Syracuse basketball No. 33 preseason . . . Hooray for Sully . . . *** Sabres Edge: John Vogl blogged about whether the **** against Ottawa constituted a "big ****" given the high stakes involved, and on Steve Montador's status, to which donjoe answered: Chris] Butler and [Andrej] Sekera are young players with potential. If they develop with experience, their best days are still ahead. They need to play to get that experience. [Craig] Rivet and Montador were nice veteran pickups, but their best days are behind them. Ruff likes to see his defensemen join the attack and come off the blue line. From time to time, the other team is going to gain an odd- man rush. Some blame should go to Ruff for the loss to the Pens. With a 3-1 lead halfway through the second period, I think he would have told his defense to play defense first and stay back on offense. Replica Field & Stream WatchOMG added: Personally feel that Montador is becoming a scapegoat for [Toni] Lydman's inability to help out his partner. How many times will Lydman get a pass from this team and fans? On Crosby's third goal Lydman was practically on top of Miller. Make a play on that. But it was probably more Montador's fault on that one for pinching or something, right? How does Lydman consistently not get called out? When has he really made a difference? He's not out there for the PP [power play] and seldom for the PK [penalty kill]. He has a total of 31 shots on goal this year. And every D-man except for Rivet and Sekera have blocked more shots. Every D-man has more take-aways than him. All the stats are there on NHL.com. So how is it that we call out guys like Butler or Montador or Rivet, but excuse Lydman? *** Talkin' TV: In a response to Jeff Simon's blog on the unthrilling Grammy Awards show and its lack of originality or imagination, Fred w |
